6 December 2019 marked a proud day at the University of Pretoria (UP) as Toyota South Africa (Toyota SA), UP and Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) celebrated the certificate ceremony of delegates who successfully completed the Toyota Ses’Fikile Training Programme.

The ceremony that took place at the Aula hall at UP, was attended by representatives from various institutions including Toyota SA, South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO), National Taxi Alliance (NTA), Taxi choice, UP, Enterprises UP, family and friends.

Present at the ceremony, Toyota SA Vice President: Sales and Dealer Network – Mr. Leon Theron commended those delegates who have started their journey in becoming industry leaders of tomorrow.

“Toyota SA has got two fundamentals that we push, which is mainly respect for people and continuous improvement and that is what we are doing here today. You are improving your skillset and that is why Toyota SA will always remain committed to this programme. This programme is fundamental, we have to upskill our people, we have to educate our people because that’s the only thing that will help us build this country”.

“Start your impossible, in your private life or as well as in your business life. It is something you have to encourage yourself and build yourself to start something that is probably impossible but is something you can achieve”, Mr. Theron stated.

The training programmes aimed to strengthen and develop the leadership skills of executives in the taxi industry to ensure that they function more effectively and efficiently as leaders in the transport sector.

Taking to the podium was Prof Yolanda Jordaan, HOD: Department of Marketing at UP, who congratulated the delegates for taking a step of making the impossible very possible.

“A big congratulations to each one of you, today is about you and you only, and what you have achieved”.

“They say a dream only becomes a reality when you take action. Success does not come to you, you need to go and get it. And the fact you were committed, that you did your assignments meant you took action to be one step closer to your dream. I think that is remarkable”, she said.

Mr. Masitsa, President of the NTA, the final speaker, thanked Toyota SA for working together with the taxi industry to ensure that it grows. He further thanked the families who supported the delegates through their journey.“Whatever the mind of man can perceive and conceive, it can achieve. Things can be difficult, but nothing is impossible. The lessons, the skillset you have acquired, please put them into practice. They are going to do your structures a world of good” said Mr. Masitsa.
