Prof Riëtte de Kock, from UP’s Department of Food Science, was recently honoured at the Women in Science Awards 2017 with the title of Distinguished Woman Researcher: Research and Innovation.

Her research focuses on the optimisation of the sensory properties of food and beverages that contribute to the nutritional status and wellbeing of consumers in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also leads the Sensory Identity Unit at Enterprises UP, which focuses on sensory evaluation and analysis.
