The Automotive Supply Chain Competitiveness Initiative (ASCCI) recently visited Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) to explore possibilities for future partnerships with the Centre for Asset Integrity Management (C-AIM Consult) and the Vehicle Dynamics and Mobility Group (VDG Solutions).
Presenting to ASCCI were Directors of C-AIM Consult (Prof Stephan Heyns) and VDG Solutions (Prof Schalk Els). Prof Heyns shared insight into the specialist engineering consulting services in structural integrity, vibration and acoustics offered by C-AIM Consult which can aid ASCCI in the achievement of their strategic objectives. Prof Els, who leads a team of researchers and engineers involved with the world’s leading engineering testing, highlighted the availability of testing facilities and expertise at the VDG laboratory which draws in several international clients every year. Prof Els emphasised the need for local testing of tyres, vehicle systems and other related technologies in the South African context.
Shivani Singh of B&M Analysts, who led the delegation, expressed excitement on the possibility of future collaboration. “It was a tremendously insightful morning and I was surprised to see the sheer number of opportunities for our firms to make use of Enterprises UP’s services. It is wonderful to see such excellence in our own backyard,” she said.
