We have the ability to provide business-to-business solutions across the full life cycle of services from project
conceptualisation to delivery and capacity building using scientific evidence as basis.
We draw on the expertise of 140 disciplines from nine faculties of the
University of Pretoria who provide industry with access to specialist expertise and resources.
Enterprises University of Pretoria has developed solutions to assist organisations demystify the 4IR focusing on
two key areas, namely, what emerging technologies could be applicable to their future and how will such impact their future, and how should organisations, in general, arrange themselves to better cope with the implications of the 4IR.
Enterprises University of Pretoria (Pty) Ltd (Enterprises UP) is the commercial hub that manages and implements business activities of the University of Pretoria (UP). Wholly-owned by the University, we manage and execute the commercial research, consulting and training activities of the University, thereby generating UP’s third stream revenue whilst bolstering brand awareness.

Role Description:
The Research Solutions division of Enterprises UP provides various solutions to clients both local and international through the avenues of commercial contract research and consulting. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager is a key member of the Executive Team and will assume full responsibility to lead the division, taking full responsibility for long-term sustainability, annual turnover targets and maintaining a good order book.

Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
A minimum of a PhD or doctorate with the relevant undergraduate qualification.
An MBA will be advantageous.
Skills and Experience:
10 years’ experience in a senior management position with exposure in business generation.
Knowledge and experience of Corporate Governance within a business generation environment. Natural business acumen. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent conceptualisation and business venturing skills. Natural leadership ability.
A sound strategist and planner.
High emotional intelligence. Interpersonal and conflict management skills. Strong decision-making and implementation drive. A professional networker.
Duties and responsibilities:
Continuous development of new value-added solutions aligned with market needs.
Positioning of Research Solutions with existing and prospective clients.
Lead business generation at all levels. Drive and lead innovation and compilation of business plans. Ensure long-term financial sustainability. Ensure compliance regarding business and research ethics and the policies of the company. Monitor and manage performance of the division. Be a strategic and a value-add contributor to the EXCO and the company.
