Brief Description
Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is the study of medical, social, organizational, ethical and economic implications of development, diffusion and use of health technology. It is a multidisciplinary field of policy analysis and encompasses the assessment of the quality, safety, efficacy, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of healthcare intervention and technology. Policy and decision makers need to make sound decisions on organization of the health service delivery system, types of interventions to be offered and the manner of service delivery to achieve the maximum health benefit for the public. This also includes funding only those services and interventions that are proven to be effective and cost effective to ensure people-centred service delivery.
