Mentor professional development: Self-empowerment in a Community of Practice
Brief Description
This course serves to empower mentors’ professionally with a view to become innovate and reflective in their mentoring practices while addressing their professional development. 
 
It focuses on Whole Brain® Thinking, action learning, communities of practice, professional development and mentoring. The focus of this programme is to rediscover and develop as a mentor.  
 
The question being asked is:  How do I become an agent of change and where would this journey begin? In this programme it starts with taking responsibility for own  professional development. 
 
We start with the self − the self as a person, professional,  within a community of practice and in the mentoring relationship with a mentee.
Learning Outcomes
The following will be covered:-
  • Cultivate your professional development as an educator, mentor and independent lifelong learner.
  •  Use action learning to become a self-empowered professional.
  • Explore and understand whole brain, peer and e-mentoring in order to apply the principles in your mentoring practice.
  • Become an active member of a community of practice.
  • Execute a SWOT analysis for observation, reflection and action in your mentoring practice.

This mentorship programme invites you to do the following:

Entry Requirements
Prospective delegates are teachers mentoring student- or beginner teachers on a regular basis.  Teachers who do not have experience in mentoring would also benefit from the programme.
