Brief Description
The short course in Monitoring and Evaluation for the Public Sector provides you with the requisite skills to effectively execute monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes that can assist in assessing performance and identifying contributing factors to public service delivery.
 
During the course, you will gain invaluable insights to the importance of M&E as a tool for the public sector to manage performance-related processes of policy implementation, strategic management and programme/project management. You will also come to understand the roles and responsibilities of government officials as implementing agents of M&E, including the composition of the government-wide M&E framework and its intended outcomes
Learning Outcomes
1) Develop an understanding of the importance of monitoring and evaluation as a tool for the public sector to manage performance related processes of policy implementation, strategic management and programme/project management.
2) Understand the role of monitoring and evaluation indicators in support of planning, programming and budgeting processes within the project cycle context.
3) Understand the composition of the Government-wide monitoring and evaluation framework and intended outcomes.
4) Understand key monitoring and evaluation concepts and principles in the government context.
5) Understand the relationship between institutional monitoring and evaluation and the GWME system.
6) Understand and apply techniques for statistical and data analysis.
7) Understand data collection and data analysis for monitoring and evaluation.
8) Understand the roles and responsibilities of government officials as implementing agents of monitoring and evaluation.
