two key areas, namely, what emerging technologies could be applicable to their future and how will such impact their future, and how should organisations, in general, arrange themselves to better cope with the implications of the 4IR.
It is often said that health is wealth and that ethos can be applied literally to the workplace where the health and wellness of employees are crucial to the success of the business. Work-related stress and toxic workplaces can severely damage one’s mental health. The health and well-being of employees are crucial in improving employee engagement and resilience and reducing high employee turnover.
Amid a transformative era for women and girls in sports, it is crucial to delve into the intricacies of their athletic experiences. According to Prof Christa Janse van Rensburg, Head of the Section Sports Medicine at the University of Pretoria (UP) and the Chair of the World Netball Medical Advisory Panel, "only 6% of sports research focuses exclusively on female participants, leaving much to be discovered about how sport should be tailored to meet the specific needs of female athletes."
On the commemorative occasion of Nelson Mandela on 18 July 2023, the Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) team spent the day at Bophelong Community Centre in Mamelodi.
The team spent well over 67 minutes engaging in various activities, spreading joy among the young ones, and connecting with the dedicated staff at the orphanage.
The day began with a tour of the orphanage, which gave the team a better insight of the orphanage. With a newfound understanding, they went about their planned activities to brighten the day of the children at Bophelong Community Centre.
Enterprises University of Pretoria hosted a breakfast engagement session with our Chief Executive Officer, Dr Elmar de Wet and network of partners on 4 August 2023 at Enterprises Building. The session was held in an effort to strengthen relationships with stakeholders as well as give an overview of the company’s strategic focus for 2023 and beyond.
The African Forage, Fodder, Feed and Food Reference Laboratory launched its cutting-edge lab, services and expertise at a networking open day on 28 June 2023 at Innovation Africa, University of Pretoria. Prof Wayne Truter welcomed the guests and expressed his excitement about the various activities carried out at the laboratory and how such could benefit industry.
Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) and University of Pretoria (UP) penned a significant research and development (R and D) contract with M2Bio Sciences. The four-year research programme headed by Prof Vinesh Maharaj’s Biodiscovery Centre will focus a product development and/or enhancements for natural compound derivatives. The Biodiscovery Centre is actively involved in R and D where natural products and uniquely derived compounds are used for application in pharmaceuticals, herbal medicines, cosmetics and veterinary products.
