Toyota South Africa, together with the University of Pretoria (UP) and Enterprises University of Pretoria (Enterprises UP) remains committed to working side by side with the local taxi industry to implement sound business practices and upskill members of taxi associations. By presenting training programmes they can help enhance operations in the local taxi industry and equip taxi associations with basic business and management skills.
The Advanced Leadership Development Programme was recently added to the Toyota Ses’Fikile Training Programme, bringing the total number of courses in the flagship offering to three. The Programme in Management Principles and Practices and the Office Management Programme have been presented since 2016.
The programme was successfully presented to leaders of taxi associations from different provinces. It provides practical training to officials who may not have had sufficient training opportunities on how to be effective leaders or want to strengthen their leadership skills. The advanced leadership development programme aims to strengthen and develop the leadership skills of executives in the taxi industry to ensure that they function more effectively and efficiently as leaders in the transport sector.
The programme focuses on the development of knowledge and skills regarding the context within which the leader needs to lead, personal development of the leader, leading teams as well as businesses. The programme aims to equip leaders in the taxi industry with the tools and techniques to optimise the strengths of their respective management structures and to transform and drive change in their associations and the industry at large.
The programme was facilitated by a collection of industry specialists and lecturers from UP who covered several topics not limited to becoming leaders in the transport economy, leading your people, developing leadership skills and leading yourself and you’re your business.
