Short Course in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Brief Description
The aim of this course Is to equip teachers with theoretical and practical knowledge and skllls to better understand and support learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
 
The course will explore the diverse needs and difficulties learners with ASD experience. It will also equip teachers with practical strategies they can utilise in the classroom environment to support learners with ASD by using visual aids and alternative forms of communication, structured teaching, managing challenging behaviour, and promoting positive behaviour.

Unit 3: The role of the teacher In supporting a learner with ASD

  • Understanding and using elements of structured teaching support.
  • Using visual and alternative aids ln communication.
  • Practical strategies to develop social skills.
  • Practical strategies to support with special needs.
